Week #3- September 2, 2025

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible energy and joy students have brought to MES! The classrooms, hallways, and playground are buzzing with curiosity, laughter, and kindness—and it’s all because of them.

Our commitment is simple but Meaningful, Engaging, and Supportive: every student will be seen, heard, and valued. Whether they’re raising their hand to share a thought, lending a hand to a classmate, or simply showing up with a smile, each child brings something special to our school community. We’re here to lift them up, help them grow, and make sure they know they matter every single day.

As we enjoy this well-earned break, we encourage you to reflect with your student on the positive start to the year. Rest, recharge, and get ready—because there’s so much more learning, discovery, and fun ahead!

Wishing you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Other Announcements/Reminders from the MES Office:

  • September Menus

  • Please do not send in or bring food without having a conversation with the classroom teacher first. The teacher can advise you of known conditions and work together to make a plan. The school nurse may also be part of these conversations.

  • A safe transport to and from school is a vital, and sometimes overlooked, aspect of effective school operations. Please take some time to review the attached bus safety document with your school-aged children. Bus Safety Document

  • The MES Parent/Student Handbook 2025-2026 Open the link to review the handbook.

  • MES has several opportunities for parents/guardians to represent MES on various committees and advisory groups. If you would like to know more about volunteering in this way, email Mr. Baker. (dbaker@rockingham.k12.va.us)

  • Attendance Tip/Reminder: Try to plan doctor, dentist, and other appointments outside of school hours. Every minute in the classroom matters, especially for young learners building reading and math skills.
