MOS Certificate

Last month 10 students in the Computer Information Systems classes earned a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification. Certifications included 4 for PowerPoint 2019, 3 for Excel 2019, 2 for Word 2019, and 1 for Excel Expert 2019.

Students learned the Microsoft Office productivity apps using online modules through Cengage MindTap ($140), then took practice exams on GMetrix ($40), and finally passed the exam through Certiport ($104). The State of Virginia covers the cost, so each student saved $284. Combined they saved $2,840 and walked away with certifications that count as a CTE Credential that satisfies a graduation requirement.

According to a LinkedIn article, earning a MOS certification increases confidence and MOS Experts earn more. And according to another article, 88% of managers report Microsoft Office certification gives employees an advantage in hiring and promotion.

Computer Information Systems is a class open to all BHS students grades 9-12.
