Lab School

Yesterday, BHS Lab School students helped Linville Edom students with a watershed experience at Timberville Town Park along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. 4th grade students learned about their place in the watershed through a science investigation into the water quality. They conducted a biotic water quality test  counting up macro-invertebrates in the water. Macro-invertebrates are grouped into different groups based on their ability to tolerate levels of pollution. Students also used their math skills to help them age trees that were along the banks of the river.   Finally students explored what a watershed is and how they can help protect it.
